Hubbell Completes Telecommunications Sale
ORANGE, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 11, 2000--Hubbell Incorporated (NYSE: HUBA, HUBB) today announced the sale of its WavePacer Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) assets to ECI Telecom Ltd. (NASDAQ: ECIL) of Petah Tikva, Israel. The purchase price was $61 million cash with a provision for additional payments of as much as $25 million dependent upon WavePacer DSL sales during 2000.

As previously announced Hubbell Incorporated will continue to manufacture the core products of its Pulse Communications operation which include Central Office D4 transmission equipment and Series 5 Digital Loop Carrier Equipment. Pulsecom is a major supplier of these components to the Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC) and is introducing new products including D4 channel units and fiber-based Series 5 systems. Combined with Hubbell Premise Wiring, Pulsecom will continue as an active participant in telecommunications markets.
